September, what, wait, we are at the end of the month?!

A month that moved fast and felt full in the best possible way, of course. Clients, governance, new work, The Safety Social and a few personal highlights too.

Client Work: busy, varied and on site

September was genuinely packed on the client front. In-person visits, management review meetings, internal audit reports, board reports, mentoring sessions... the full range. A significant piece of ISO gap analysis work was carried out for a new client in the contracting sector across office and site, with the audit report finalised by the end of the month.

EcoVadis supply chain compliance work continued for another client. SMT-level reporting, management meetings, and ISO management review meetings rounded out a very active client month. This is what it's all about. I have genuinely loved it!

Research

This one is under wraps for the moment but I am about to embark on some really interesting research that has not been done before (which I find amazing as it is so simple and - hopefully - effective!).

IIRSM Council

As you may know I joined the counil at IIRSM earlier this year and it has been interesting to participate in the board level operations of the charity. It's no secret I love compliance and governance so, here, I have the opportunity to do something I love, for an organisation I have been involved with for many years at many levels.

CPD

Double materiality. What's all that about?! Long story short its about sustainability and looking at people and environment (impact materiality) and the sustainability effects of performance and position (financial materiality). Reshaping how assessments are done. Just something of interest for me and potentially my clients so I am upping my awareness.

On a separate note. Question for any readers. Do you log ALL of your CPD or just stand out stuff, because I feel that if I log it all, it could be a full time job. The profession is all about learning and professional development. Where is the line for you?

Coaching Dimensions Podcast

Episodes continued to record and publish throughout the month. It's a lot of work to get a podcast going and I wouldn't even suggest it is of a 'professional' standard, I like it though, I get some lovely feedback and it is only set to get better.

There was some 'technical' stuff being brushed up on the YouTube channel in terms of SEO (whatever that all means to a risk professional?!).

Let's just say the podcast is finding its rythm so click the link below to check it out.

The Safety Social

We have had some good times in The Safety Social, the casual chat has been on fire, lot's of work being shared around the group (no expectations, no targets, no closed group referral, just a genuine network).

A committee meeting is schedule for next week (still September but you know, gotta do these website updates when I can!).

Our book club is flippin' lovely, I can't deny it. It has been the nudge I have needed to read more and honestly, I love reading, but sometimes it slips with life, or we get readers block or struggle to find what genre we want to read. My 'to read' list is getting longer and longer though. We have a lovely bunch of people involved and it is becoming a great group.

Networking and Business Development

The Greater Manchester Business Index at Manchester Hall on 22 September, a catch-up with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. Absolutely beautiful building and the talks from an business economic perspective were genuinely insightful, especially when we get the Bank of England talking about inflation and how it is discussed, worked out, voted on and more.

Catching up with some old connections (work friends really) over food and drink too.

I'm genuinely trying to get better at this.

Year End

Yep, you read it correctly. Another year end for Dimension H&S Ltd. August 2022 we went live on Companies House and here we are. So the usual rounding up of the accounts was carried out and sent over to the accountant for them to work their magic and relieve me or a migraine.

It's not the sexiest part of being in business for me, but it is necessary, keeps me on track, keeps me compliant and honestly, gives me a huge sense of pride to have hit another year in business.

A Bit of Personal Life

This is what you really clicked the link for isn't it? Save the best till last. I live a very exciting life, I really do...not. It is a content life though and I am happy with it!

We went to a friends wedding with a difference, it was a music gig! How awesome is that. Bride and Groom looking amazing, so unique and it's nice to see people being themselves.

Getting outdoors on the regular on weekends, great for the wellbeing and it's a great excuse for snackies, up to a thousand calories burned, you are damned right I am having some chocolate.

Planting and growing my own herb garden. It's early days yet but I'm on with it.

Bits of socialising here and there and keeping in touch with the old phone, sending short videos and mems to friends too.

I am back in the gym (post gym selfie above explained!), dedicated, sore, tired but feeling good about it. I was starting to slack and my mental health did not like it, so, within a week or so I feel like myself, eating well, moving more, getting outdoors, really does make a huge difference.

All the best for the month ahead
